Been out of the loop for a really, really long time. So long in fact, that I couldn’t recognise Orchard Road last week when I went past it. And since I didn’t stop to see the changes, this means that I have officially not been in Orchard for 7 months. Being away has made me realise how fast Singapore’s landscape can change, I guess I never really realised it when I was here. Even my own Tampines is evolving, on its way to becoming the 2nd “town” in Singapore with Tampines 1 slated to be open by next week. (leading Erfen and me to joke that now we can go to town in just t-shirts, shorts and slippers)
Being back has been largely awesome. I haven’t even had time to look at my photos, and I seem content at this moment to kind of treat the 5 months in Europe as some sort of nice dream that I’m just waking up to. Nothing’s changed much, though I am more predisposed to cooking for myself (after having successfully cooked Hainanese Chicken Rice from scratch in Vienna and I pretty much almost died from happiness when I tasted the chilli, garlic and awesome fragrant rice).
As for this blog, I’m still struggling as to the direction I wanna take with my writing. I started a new blog where I write short stories and poetry, but I am currently thinking of starting another one with Erfen, to have an outlet where we both can start writing more regularly and talking about things we are passionate about, though it’s still early days for that. I’ll end this post on this note, but hopefully I find my creative spark soon and start writing more.
